Who we are

What we hold and where it comes from
We research established UK companies. In doing so we process a limited amount of personal data about company directors and people with significant control, almost all of it from the public Companies House register: name, role, company, service address, and month and year of birth, which we read only as an age band and do not store as a date of birth. We also record company contact details (phone, website, business address) from public sources such as the company’s own website, and any correspondence you have with us.
Why, and our lawful basis
We use this information for one purpose: identifying established, owner-run companies whose owners may value a confidential, no-obligation introduction to a committed buyer, and writing or calling to ask. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)); a documented assessment is maintained and available on request. We do not use automated decision-making, we do not process special-category data, and we never sell personal data.
Calls and letters
We screen numbers against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service before calling. If you tell us once that you do not want to hear from us, that is permanent: you go on a suppression list that applies across everything we do, for every client.
Who we share it with
Your name and company are shared with a prospective buyer only with your consent, given in conversation with us first. Before that, any description a buyer sees is anonymised. Service providers that host our systems or deliver post and email act only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
Research records about companies we have not contacted, or where there is no ongoing conversation, are refreshed and cleared on a rolling basis, normally within 24 months. The suppression list is kept indefinitely, because honouring an objection requires remembering it.
Your rights
You can object to this processing, ask for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or erased. Email hello@twentyfouros.com and we will act on it promptly. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
